For decades, the GED test was the most popular high school equivalency assessment in Canada. In 2023, however, the Canadian provinces and territories were informed that GED Testing Service would no longer offer the exam in Canada starting May 3, 2024.
The publisher of the GED test said it would become far too costly to maintain the old, paper-based Canadian test. In the United States, GED Testing Service had already rolled out a computer-based GED exam in 2014, and if they had to develop a new Canada-oriented exam, the cost would become too high.
In Canada, the paper-based 2002 series was still used, but it would be costly to support the outdated technology. So, Canada decided to introduce its own Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) exam, a challenging, computer-formatted assessment that is also available on paper in some jurisdictions.
The new Canadian-made CAEC exam is quite challenging, and students should be properly prepared to achieve success. Cansego.ca is a new website that not only provides lots of top-notch information about the new CAEC exam but also offers a great online course to help students prepare well for Canada’s new high school equivalency exam.
